Inspired by the effect of wind on shallow water, the Ripple bench is as tactile as it is pleasing to the eye.
All of the parts for the undercarrige are made from ash using an assortment of hand tools including planes and spokeshaves. The seat is oak, which has been flattened by hand before the carved, ripple effect is added with a gouge and mallet. The legs and stretchers are shaped into tenons which in turn are firmly wedged with black walnut wedges, contrasting boldly with the pale ash.
Ideal as a hallway feature, a useful addition to a boot room, or indeed as extra seating for gatherings around the table, the Ripple Bench balances everyday versitility with a simple beauty.
