These parts are shaped by hand on a shave horse with draw knives, spokeshaves and bench planes to create tapered octagonal facets.\u003cbr\u003eThe elm seat has been hollowed out using an adze, followed by a scorp, a travisher and finally cabinet scrapers for a smooth finish.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAll of the joints are held with traditional wedged mortise and tenon joinery, holding the chair's integral structure together firmly and under tension.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMade to order.
